Up to 680 Million Euros of Financial Support

Germany’s Federal Ministry of Education and Research has committed EUR 500 million to the development of the Research Fab Battery Cells Project, spread over several years. The government of the federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia will provide an additional total sum of EUR 180 million for the purchase of the site, the construction of the buildings and the development of the required infrastructure.

It is expected that the Research Fab Battery Cells Project will create approx. 150 new jobs. Experts in the fields of battery research and production are already being recruited all over Germany and Europe. The FFB center in Münster has been designed to become a pan-European flagship research project for new battery production technologies.

The federal and state governments have committed themselves financially until 2028. Their subsidies will be spread over various stages of the financing process – from the architectural planning stage and the design of machines and processes to the launch of the research manufacturing facility.
